About Us

Nestled within the historic Ingestre Estate in Staffordshire, The Orangery stands as a testament to timeless elegance and community resilience.

Lost To Time

Constructed in the 1840s, this Grade II-listed building originally served as a glasshouse for cultivating exotic fruits and plants, reflecting the grandeur of its era. Yet after many decades, The Orangery and its grounds succumbed to the encroaching forces of nature.

In 2012, after coming together and recognising the significance of this historic gem, a group of local residents formed our charity, Friends of Ingestre Orangery. Our mission: to restore and preserve The Orangery for future generations.

For All To Enjoy

The restoration of The Orangery was a true labour of love - seven years of tireless fundraising, careful conservation, and hands-on hard work led by our dedicated Board and supporters. Then in 2019, the doors and all nine-sash windows finally reopened, breathing new life into this once-forgotten space. Now, The Orangery has truly begun to blossom again, filled with celebration, creativity, and the joyful energy of a place at the heart of its community, with the elegant architecture and gardens providing the perfect backdrop for events, wellbeing retreats and weddings

The journey to restore The Orangery couldn't have been achieved without the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and everyone who plays the National Lottery, and for that, we take the opportunity to thank you!

At its heart, The Orangery is a space for people. As a registered charity, every hire, every event, and every visit helps us protect and preserve this remarkable building and its gardens for generations to come.
